Continental AG is an international concern based in Germany, manufacturer of car components such as tires, braking systems, stability control systems, etc.

The concern, headquartered in the German city of Hannover, is the world’s second largest manufacturer of electronic braking systems and fourth in tire production. Continental has eight production units and three research and development centers in Timișoara, Sibiu, Carei, Arad and Iași.

The tire factory in Timișoara produces pipes for air conditioning systems and transmission belts. By the end of 2009 Continental Concern has invested over 370 million euros in the Romanian activities.

In October 2010 Continental had 8,300 employees in Romania, of which 1,600 in Timișoara, and their number has increased over the years.
