The Michelin Group started operations in Romania in August 2001 and has undergone rapid development. Currently, the team consists of approximately 4000 employees who continue to write the history of Michelin Romania.

The Zalău Tires plant was founded in 1977, and the acquisition by the Michelin Group in 2001 also meant the application of new standards of quality, safety and production.

The Zalău plant produces various types of tires: truck tires, radial air and tubeless tires under the associated brands Taurus, Kormoran, Riken, Michelin industrial tires, tires for equipping forklifts, cars and machines working in underground mines. Starting in 2013, in Zalău there are also subway stations.
